Donkey Wheel

Description:
This is believed to be a late 17th century donkey wheel housed in a mid 19th century building on a National Trust property. The wheel was used to draw water from a 160 foot deep well to supply the farm. The purpose of the job was to stabilise the structure and make it safe whilst retaining as much as possible of the original material and all the original features. Work was carried out mainly on the well house and well box cover/trough, with some minor repairs to the wheel.
